The International Peer Mentors (IPMs) of International Programs and DECA students supported the Seattle Arthritis Foundation's annual fundraiser, the Jingle Bell Run and Walk. These students worked hard to recruit participants, who will joined 205 teams from all over Puget Sound in the event's 5K run and a 5K walk. (The event also offers a 1K children's run with elves). The Shoreline team raised $1,485, placing the college team as #12 in funds raised (all registration fees go to fundraising.) 12th out of 205! Congratulations to all!
Arthritis Foundation Development Manager Kelsey Birnbaum said that the size of the Shoreline team (72) is very impressive. The group is comprised of students, faculty, staff and community members. This is the sixth year for the IPMs to coordinate an SCC team.
Special kudos go to IPM, Frederik Handavan, who was the college's team captain and Mari Kosin, Assistant Director of International Student Services.
The Jingle Bell Run & Walk is an annual fundraiser to benefit the Arthritis Foundation. Funds raised provide vital funding for research, programs and services to prevent, control and cure arthritis and related diseases for over 2.2 million people living with arthritis in the Pacific Northwest.
