The Shoreline Community College Women's Softball Team beat Skagit Valley College on Friday, 8-0, 6-0 to clinch 4th place in the NWAACC Northern Region and qualify for the NWAACC Softball Softball Championship for the 5th consecutive year.
On Saturday, SCC dropped two games to Everett CC, 6-5 and 9-1 to finish the regular season.
In the Skagit Valley games, Alia Kelly ran her pitching record to 8-6 for the season with a 4 hit shutout of the Cardinals and she hit her 8th homerun of the season. Jarryn Vannatta had two hits and Chelsea Lindroth doubled for SCC.
In Game 2, Kelsie Mason shut out SVC on 3 hits and ran her record to 5-2 for the year. Alia Kelly hit a double and Sophie Overlock-Pauley had two hits for the SCC. Skagit Valley had 5 errors to help SCC's cause.
SCC finished the season 19-18-2 overall and 14-10 in the region. This is the first time in 4 seasons SCC has not won or finished second in the region. SCC will travel to Portland, OR on Thursday to compete in the NWAACC Softball Championship starting Friday.
Match-ups will be announced later in the week, as the softball seeding for the tournament will now be determined by a power ranking for the first time and not how teams finished in the actual region.
