Women's Center
SCHOLARSHIPS
Margaret E. Svec was a
member of the English faculty at Shoreline Community
College from 1964, when the college opened, until
1978. She has won awards for poetry and has been
published in magazines and journals. Since 1978,
Margaret has actively supported the Women's Center
as a presenter, mentor, advocate, advisory committee
member and donor.
A Margaret E. Svec
scholarship will be awarded this coming academic
year (2008-2009) to:
- A student
working towards a transfer degree: Associate of Arts and
Sciences, Associate in Business, Associate in
Science, Associate in Fine Arts
- A student
working towards a workforce degree: Associate of Applied Arts and
Sciences
Each scholarship is
renewable until the recipient completes her degree
or until winter 2010 (whichever comes first). For
renewal, a recipient must meet the following
criteria:
- have a 3.0
cumulative GPA or higher
- enroll as a
full-time student during fall, winter and spring
quarters (summer is optional)
- meet with an
academic advisor each quarter to plan a
quarterly class load appropriate to the
completion of intended degree
Each scholarship will
cover:
- Tuition, fees
related to tuition and/or required textbooks.
Deadline: Friday,
April 25, 2008 at 12 noon
