Jenny Voss is Named Final Women's Basketball Player of the Week For 2011-12:

D30_6225.JPGSophomore point guard, Jenny Voss, from Aberdeen, WA was named the final SCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for 2011-12.

In SCC's final two games of the season, Voss scored 20 points, grabbed 9 rebounds with 3 assists and 3 steals. Jenny was named Player of the Week 6 times in 2011-12 as she led the Lady Dolphins in scoring (11.28 points per game), assists (2.65), steals (2.65), free-throws (107 of 151 tries, 71%) and was third in rebounds (4.46). She is also 14th in the NWAACC in steals, with 69 for season.

SCC dropped the final two games of the season, 59-34 for Peninsula and 69-40 to Bellevue College.

The Lady Dolphins finished the season, 10-15, a 3 game improvement from their 7-17 record in 2010-11. SCC also improved 1 game in the NWAACC Northern Region, going 4-12 in the 2011-12 compared to 3-13 last year.

SCC Lady Dolphins Drop Last Game of Year To Bellevue, 69-40

The Lady Dolphins had another bad first half on Wednesday, only scoring 16 points and never getting back in the game, as BC led 30-16 at half and outscored SCC 39 to 24 in the second half to post the 69-40 win. 

vossShoreline was led by Jenny Voss with 11 points, the only Dolphin in double figures. Gnanamani Hooyman scored 8 points and Kaleigh Phillips pulled down 7 rebounds.

 

Shoreline finished the year 10-15, winning 3 more games this season than in 2010-11 and going 4-12 in the NWAACC Northern Region, improving by one game from last year. 2 of the Lady Dolphin losses in the region were in overtime.

 

SCC was led on the season by sophomore Jenny Voss who averaged 11 points a game and by fellow sophomore Gnanamani Hooyman who added almost 10 points a game and freshman Kaleigh Phillips who averaged 9.5 points.

 

SCC got off to their best starts in several years, at 6-3 as they entered region play, but a tough 7 game losing streak in the middle of the region schedule doomed a winning campaign.

Lady Dolphins Score Season Low 34 Points in Defeat To Peninsula

The Shoreline Community College women's basketball team could only muster 13 points in the second half, as they suffered a 59-34 defeat at the hands of Peninsula College on Monday night in the SCC Gym.

On "Sophomore" night, the SCC squad honored four sophomores, Jenny Voss, Briana Bergano-Kinney, Gnanamani Hooyman and Tess Cathey, but the Lady Dolphins could not play off the emotion and trailed 29-21 at half and shot 24.6% for the night and only 20% in the second half.

 

Jenny Voss scored 9 points for SCC as no Dolphin scored in double Jennyfigures. Voss also had 7 rebounds. Freshman Kaleigh Phillips added 6 points and 5 rebounds.

 

SCC is 10-14 on the season and 4-11 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Peninsula moves to 16-8 and 10-4 in the region. Peninsula will move on to the NWAACC Women's Basketball Championship next week.


 SCC finishes the season on Wednesday at Bellevue College at 5:30 PM.

Gnanamani Hooyman Named SCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week:
Sophomore forward Gnanamani Hooyman has been named the SCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Hooyman scored 39 points in two games for the Lady Dolphins, adding 17 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 blocks and 3 assists in two wins against Edmonds and Everett Community Colleges.

The Lady Dolphins beat Edmonds on Wednesday night to break a 7 game losing streak and Gnanamani scored 23 points against the Tritons with 8 rebounds. Against Everett on Saturday afternoon, Hooyman scored 16 points, with 9 rebounds and 5 steals.

SCC plays Peninsula College on Monday in its final home game of the season and travels to Bellevue College on Wednesday to finish the season. SCC is now 10-13 on the year and 4-10 in the region.

Lady Dolphins Beat Everett CC 67-56

The Shoreline Community College women's basketball team won their second game in a row, beating Everett Community College 67-56 on Saturday afternoon in the Everett CC gym.

 

TessSophomore guard, Tess Cathey, led Shoreline with 17 points, followed closely by sophomore Gnanamani Hooyman with 16 points and freshman Kaleigh Phillips with 14. Hooyman added 9 rebounds and 5 steals while Phillips pulled down 8 rebounds.

 

Shoreline got revenge for an earlier defeat to the Lady Trojans, 57-52 when SCC hosted ECC back in January.

 

SCC moved to 10-13 on the year and 4-10 in the region. SCC has had only one 10 win season in the past 6 years and only one 4 win region record during the same time period. Everett goes to 6-15 overall and 5-8 in the region.

 

SCC plays its final home game on Monday at 4:30 PM against Peninsula College. Peninsula has qualified for the NWAACC Basketball Championship and has a 15-8 record overall and 9-4 record in the region coming into Monday's game with SCC.

SCC Women's Basketball Defeats Edmonds To End 7 Game Losing Streak

The Lady Dolphin Basketball broke its 7 game losing streak in a 78-44 win over winless Edmonds Community College on Wednesday night in the Edmonds gym.

SCC led at half-time 43 to 28 and never was challenged in the game as the undermanned ECC squad struggled with the SCC press.

 

Shoreline was led by sophomore Gnanamani Hooyman who scored 23 points and had 8 rebounds. Jenny Voss added 13 points along with Tess Cathey and Kaleigh Phillips who both scored 10 each.

 

SCC is now 9-13 on the season and 3-10 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Edmonds falls to 0-20 and 0-12. SCC plays Saturday afternoon at Everett CC at 4:00 PM in the Everett CC Gym. Shoreline finishes its home season on Monday, at 4:30 PM against Peninsula College.

Jenny Voss Named SCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

D30_3939_sc.jpgSophomore point guard, Jenny Voss, was named the SCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Sunday. Voss scored 20 points in a 87-77 overtime loss to North Seattle Community College on Wednesday at the SCC Homecoming game and added 6 more points on Saturday against Whatcom CC and had 9 rebounds, 6 steals and 4 assists in the her two games during the week. 

Voss continues to be the only Lady Dolphin scoring in double figures for this season, averaging 11.45 points a game, while adding 5 rebounds a game, 3 steals and 3 assists. 

The Lady Dolphins are struggling through a 7 game losing streak, including 2 overtime losses and several other close games.

SCC travels to rival and winless Edmonds Community College on Wednesday to take on the Tritons at 5:00 PM. The Lady Dolphins also take on Everett CC on Saturday at Everett in a 4:00 PM start. The SCC squad returns home on Monday, February 20th, for a President's Day match up with Peninsula College in the SCC Gym for "Sophomore" Night.

Lady Dolphins Basketball Drops 61-40 Game to Whatcom CC

The Shoreline Community College Women's Basketball Team losing streak hits 7 games as the Lady Dolphins came out uninspired on Saturday in the SCC Gym against Whatcom Community College and dropped a 61-40 game to the Orcas.

 

SCC has played well in the losing streak, forcing the last two games into overtime and making big runs in the second half of most games to force OT or bring the game into striking distance, but today, there was no gas left in the tank for SCC and the Lady Dolphins could never make run at WCC.

 

MariaFreshman forward Maria Ciraco led SCC with 8 points, as no Dolphin scored in double digits. Sophomre point guard, Jenny Voss, added 6 points and sophomore Gnanamani Hooyman grabbed 10 rebounds while freshman Caitlin Roussopulus added 8 rebounds.

 

The Lady Dolphins only shot 23.4% for the game, hitting only 15 of 64 shots and 1 for 13 from three point range, missing the last 12 three point attempts. Whatcom outscored SCC 25 to 9 on turnover points as Shoreline turned the ball over 21 times in the game, compared to 10 for Whatcom.

 

The Lady Dolphins never led in the game, and were down 27 to 18 at half and the Orcas pulled out to a 55-24 for their biggest lead at 21 points.

 

Shoreline is now 8-13 for the season, and 2-10 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Whatcom goes to 14-8 and 9-3.

SCC Women's Basketball Drops Overtime Game to North Seattle

The Lady Dolphins dropped their second game in a row in overtime, as North Seattle CC defeated the SCC 87-77.

 

The SCC squad fought from 20 points down in the first half (31-11) and took a lead late in the second half, but could not make the final shot of regulation with both teams tied and fell to the Storm in OT.

 

VossJenny Voss led SCC with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists. Gnanamani Hooyman scored 11 points with 6 rebounds and Shaquila Wilson added 10 points and 4 steals.

 

Shoreline is now 8-12 on the season and 2-9 in the NWAACC Northern Region. SCC has now lost 6 games in a row, but two of last three has been in overtime and one, a near upset of Skagit Valley College, the leading team in the region. North Seattle improves to 7-12 on the season and 5-6 in the region.

 

SCC plays at home on Saturday against Whatcom Community College at 2:00 PM in the SCC Gym.

Jenny Voss Named SCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Sophomore Jenny Voss, a point guard from Aberdeen, WA, has been named the SCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Voss scored 44 points in two games this past week, with 13 rebounds, 6 steals and 8 assists. 

Voss shined through two SCC losses, as the Lady Dolphins dropped games to Skagit Valley on Wednesday (62-54) and Olympic College on Saturday (82-78 in overtime). 

SCC faces North Seattle Community College on Wednesday at 5:30 PM in the SCC Gym at "Homecoming" for the college. Elizabeth Hansen, a professor in Humanities at the college will serve as a honorary coach for the game.

Lady Dolphins Drop Game To Olympic College

The Shoreline Community College Women's Basketball Team missed 20 free throws on Saturday at Olympic College and it came back to bite the team, as SCC dropped a 82-78 game to Olympic College in overtime and gave the Lady Rangers their first win of the year.

Sophomore Jenny Voss led SCC with a career high 26 points and added 6 rebounds, 5 steals and 5 assists in a strong effort. Sophomore Briana Bergano-Kinney scored 14 points and freshman Kaleigh Phillips added 12 points with a game high 11 rebounds.

 

SCC was behind 41-37 at half, but rallied to tie the game at the end of regulation but was outscored 10 to 6 in the extra period.

The game featured 56 fouls called and 84 total foul shots, but SCC only made 22 of 42 attempts for 52%.

 

SCC is now 8-11 on the season, 2-8 in the NWAACC Northern Region and the Lady Dolphins are on a 5 game losing streak. Olympic College is now 1-14 on the season, 1-7 in the region.

 

SCC faces North Seattle CC on Wednesday at "Homecoming" at the college. NSCC will come into the game with a 6-12 record and 4-6 in the region. Game time is 5:30 PM in the SCC Gym.

Lady Dolphins Falls Short Against Skagit Valley 62-54

The SCC Women's Basketball Team played its best NWAACC Northern Region game of the season, dropping a 62-54 game to Skagit Valley College, 9-0 in the NWAACC Northern Region, on Wednesday night in the SCC Gym. SCC was down as much as 19 points (33-14) in the first half and was down 33-20 at half-time.

 

But SCC fought back in the second half, and tied the game 45-45 with 5 minutes left, but could not hold on at the end and let the Cardinals escape with a 8 points win.

Jenny Voss lead SCC with 18 points and 7 rebounds on the night. A trio of Dolphins scored 8 points including Kaleigh Phillips, Tess Cathey and Briana Bergan-Kinney. Gananamani Hooyman had 6 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for SCC as well.

 

SCC is now 8-10 on the season and 2-7 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Skagit Valley improves to 14-5 overall and 9-0 in the region. SCC plays on Saturday at Olympic College in Brementon, WA at 2:00 PM.

 

SCC returns home February 8th for the "Homecoming" game against North Seattle CC.
