Gnanamani Hooyman Named SCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Gnanamani Hooyman has been named the SCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her efforts in two games last week. Hooyman, a sophomore forward from Seattle Academy scored 15 points, had 10 rebounds, 8 steals and 5 assists in losses to Everett Community College and Bellevue College. Against Everett CC, Gnanamani scored 10 points, had 9 rebounds, 5 steals and 5 assists in a 57-52 loss to the Lady Trojans.

For the season, Hooyman is second on SCC in scoring, averaging 9.94 points per game with 5.76 rebounds and 1.53 steals per contest.

SCC is now 8-9 on the year, dropping below .500 for the first time during season and the Lady Dolphins are 2-6 in the region, good for 7th place out of 9 teams. SCC is one game out of sixth place and 2 games out of 5th as they enter the second half of the region schedule on Wednesday night, as they host Skagit Valley College who leads the NWAACC Northern Region with a 8-0 record, 13-5 overall. Game time is 5:30 PM in SCC Gym.

Bellevue's Defense Too Tough For Lady Dolphins

The Lady Dolphin Basketball Team started off strong, leading 18-14 twelve minutes into the game, but Bellevue added defensive pressure to slow down the SCC offense and held the Dolphins to two points the last 8 minutes of the first half to go up 32-20 at the break and

 the Bulldogs went on to win 67-45.

 

Kaleigh Phillips and Jenny Voss lead SCC with 10 points each. 

Bellevue dominated the boards, out rebounding SCC 43-26 and shooting 52% for the game.

 

SCC dropped below .500 for the first time on the season, with a 8-9 record overall and finish the first half of the NWAACC Northern Region schedule 2-6. Bellevue is 13-4 overall and 5-1 in the region.

 

SCC returns to action next Wednesday at home against Skagit Valley College at 5:30 PM in the SCC Gym.

Kaleigh Phillips Named SCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Shoreline Community College named freshman center Kaleigh Phillips as the Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performance against Edmonds Community College and Peninsula College last week.

Phillips scored 18 points against Peninsula and added 11 points against Edmonds. She also brought down 12 rebounds in the two games.

SCC defeated rival Edmonds CC 79-60 on Monday night but was defeated by Peninsula 65-45 on Saturday.

Shoreline is now 8-8 on the season and 2-5 in the NWAACC Northern Region. SCC will face Bellevue College on Wednesday night at 5:30 PM.

Everett CC Defeats Lady Dolphins 57-52


The Lady Dolphin Basketball Team dropped a 57-52 game to Everett Community College on Monday night in the SCC Gym. SCC fell behind early (17 to 9) but fought back to tie the game 5 times and take two small leads, but never could put the Trojans behind them and ECC came out on top by five points down the stretch.

 

Shoreline was led by Kaleigh Phillips with 12 points and 8 rebounds Monywhile Michan Luecke and Gnanamani Hooyman added 10 points each. Hooyman added 9 rebounds and 5 assists and Jenny Voss lead SCC in rebounds with 10.

 

The Lady Trojans were led by Shanna Stewart who hit 6 of 8 three pointers and scored 20 points for ECC.

 

SCC is now 8-8 overall and 2-5 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Everett moves to 4-10 overall and 3-3 in the region. SCC takes on Bellevue College on Wednesday night in the SCC Gym at 5:30 PM.

Lady Dolphins Beaten By Peninsula College 65-45


The Lady Dolphin Basketball Team got off to a bad start, only scoring 15 points in the first half in route to a 65-45 loss to Peninsula College on Saturday night in Port Angeles, WA.

SCC only shot 22.2% in the first half and was out rebounded 50 to 30 for the game, as the Lady Pirates dominated the boards and out scored SCC 15 to 4 in second chance points.

 

SCC was led by Kaleigh Phillips with 18 points, followed by Jenny Voss with 11 points. Gnanamani Hooyman had 7 rebounds for SCC.

 

SCC is now 8-7 on the season and 2-4 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Peninsula moves to 11-5 and 5-1. SCC plays at home on Monday and Wednesday of this week, facing Everett CC on Monday and Bellevue College on Wednesday. Both games are in the SCC Gym at 5:30 PM.

SCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Jenny Voss

voss2.jpgJenny Voss Named SCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week after scoring 25 points in two games, collecting 7 steals, 5 rebounds and 9 assistants against North Seattle and Whatcom Community Colleges.

SCC faces Peninsula College today in Port Angeles, WA at 5:00 PM and returns home on Monday and Wednesday against Everett CC and Bellevue College. Both games are 5:30 PM starts. Everett is a snow make-up from last week.

SCC Women's Basketball Defeats Edmonds 79-60

The Lady Dolphins broke open a close game in the second half and went on for a 79-60 victory over winless Edmonds Community College on Monday night in the SCC Gym.

Shoreline led 32-25 at halftime after three ties and three lead changes in the early going and extended its lead in the second half to 19 points twice before the final 19 point win.

Shoreline's top scorers were Gnanamani Hooyman who scored all of D30_9421_sc.jpg her 16 points in the second half. Jenny Voss scored 14 points, Kaleigh Phillips added 11 points and Maria Ciraco scored 10 points. Caitlin Roussopulus added 10 rebounds for the Dolphins.

SCC is now 8-6 on the season, passing its total wins for 2009-10 with 12 games left in the year. SCC is 2-3 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Edmonds is now 0-12 and 0-4. SCC plays Wednesday again at home against Everett CC at 5:30 PM.

SCC Women's Basketball Drops 67-49 To Whatcom
The Lady Dolphin Basketball Team dropped a 69-47 game to Whatcom Community College on Saturday in Bellingham, WA as the SCC squad could only manage 17 points in the second half.

WCC led by only 1 at half, 33-32, but Shoreline only shot 28.6% in the second half after hitting 43.3% in the first half. WCC outscored SCC 27 to 9 from the three point line. D30_0296_sc.jpg

Shoreline was led by Jenny Voss with 15 points. and Caitlin Roussopulus with 9 points.

SCC is now 7-6 on the season and 1-3 in the NWAACC Northern Region. SCC faces rival Edmonds CC on Monday at 5:30 PM in the SCC Gym.
SCC Women's Basketball Drops 64-58 Game To North Seattle

The Lady Dolphin Basketball Team was outscored 25 to 8 at the free throw line and dropped a 64-58 game to North Seattle CC on Wednesday at NSCC. The Lady Dolphins led 30-27 at half-time but could not hold on to the lead and dropped their second NWAACC Northern Region game of the season to the Storm.

D30_9421_sc.jpgSCC had a balance attacked, with Gnanamani Hooyman leading the way with 12 points, Tess Cathey added 11 and Jenny Voss 10 points. Voss also had 5 steals and 8 assistants while Kaleigh Phillips grabbed 8 rebounds to lead SCC in that category.

SCC is now 7-5 overall and 1-2 in the NWAACC Northern Region. North Seattle improves to 3-8 on the year and 1-2 in the region. SCC and NSCC are now tied for 5th place in the region. SCC travels to Bellingham, WA on Saturday to play the Whatcom Community College Lady Orcas at 5:00 PM. Whatcom is 7-5 overall and 2-0 in the region.

Jenny Voss Named SCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Voss, a sophomore from Aberdeen, WA scored 23 points in two games, including 15 against Skagit Valley College, she had 10 rebounds, 11 steals and 5 assists during the past week. SCC was defeated by Skagit Valley on Wednesday, 94-63 but beat Olympic College, 44-36 on Saturday.

SCC is 7-4 overall and 1-1 in the NWAACC Northern Region. SCC plays at North Seattle Community College on Wednesday at 5:30 PM.

SCC Women's Basketball Defeats Olympic College 44-36

The Lady Dolphins fell behind 9-0 to start the game, but came back to win 44-36 in a ugly game that both teams shot 21% from the field.

hooyman1.jpgSCC was led by Jenny Voss with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals, Gnanamani Hooyman scored 7 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to control the boards for SCC. SCC scored 12 points from 3 point range and OC was shut out of three pointers to make the difference in the game.

SCC is now 7-4 overall and 1-1 in the Northern Region. Olympic fell to 0-9 on the season and 0-2 in the region. The Lady Dolphins play at North Seattle Community College on Wednesday night at 5:30 PM.

Lady Dolphins Drops 94-63 Game To Skagit Valley College
The Lady Dolphins took it on the chin in the second half at Skagit Valley on Wednesday night, as the Cardinals outscored them 40-22 in that period on the way to a 94-63 score. SCC stayed competitive with SVC in the first half, trailing 54-41 at half while shooting 48.4% but only shot 25% in the second half as SVC dominated the boards, out rebounding SCC 48-33 for game.

SCC is now 6-4 overall and 0-1 in the NWAACC Northern Region. SCC returns home on Saturday to face Olympic College who loss 83-32 to Bellevue on Wednesday night.
Michan Luecke is SCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

The Lady Dolphins pulled the game out in overtime 67-59 as Luecke scored 8 points, had 9 rebounds and 6 steals in her best overall game of the season so far.

The SCC squad is 6-3 on the season and open NWAACC Northern Region play on Wednesday at Skagit Valley College. SVC is 5-5 on the season
