About VMMC

History

The Vehicle Maintenance Management Conference grew from a University of Washington’s professor’s insight into learning. This professor found that the answers to relevant questions resided in the industry knowledge and experience rather than attending a trade show. Over 69 years ago, he pulled together people to exchange ideas and information in an educational environment that encourages networking and collaboration.

1959 VMMC meeting

Over the years, the VMMC has been built on the premise that everyone learns from each other. Manufacturers can frankly discuss equipment and how it will act and react in your fleet. Users also provide a working knowledge of the same equipment. The combination of the two is invaluable.

The VMMC is a volunteer organization composed of fleet professionals and vendors that work throughout the year to develop and participate in the annual conference. Trustees, steering committee members, officers, and Shoreline Community College staff meet regularly to work on the conference.

Would you like to help shape the VMMC and the content of future conferences? Becoming a trustee is an opportunity to contribute your professional knowledge and expertise to the conference. Trustees are nominated for a three-year renewable term and:

  • Attend meetings and offer suggestions
  • Serve as conference panel chairs, moderators, and presenters
  • Recruit industry peers to add meaningful content to the conference
  • Market the conference to increase participation
  • Serve on various committees to work on specific tasks
