Core Courses
Core Courses are designed to provide industry requests for employees that understand the fundamental methods and practices involved in visual communication.
Through the Core Course experience students gain foundation skills for advanced work in a area of specialization as well as an opportunity to develop and or augment their personal portfolios.
Core courses may be taken at any time they are offered and available and in any order as long as the required prerequisites for class entry are met.
Core Courses may be waived if a student provides either a transcript from an accredited college or university or a portfolio that demonstrates knowledge and skills covered in the course and in the course syllabus. Students choosing to waive a course must meet with an appropriate VCT faculty advisor and fill out a VCT waiver form. Waiving a course does not reduce the required amount of credits necessary to complete a degree.
Students who have completed required materials for a course should consider taking the course to develop a comprehensive body of work for portfolio purposes. In addition, software and the requirements of industry change continuously making updating of what had previously been a satisfactory skill set a necessity.
Courses on the provided planning
sheets are for reference only. All Art/VCT degree course requirements
are reviewed and updated regularly. Please see an Art/VCT faculty advisor
