System Downtime Notice - WCTCS Production (Primarily FAM)

In accordance with the SBCTC-IT Hosted Systems and Services Downtime Policy (http://www.cis.ctc.edu/wctc/internet/downtime.htm), the Production environment that hosts, primarily, the Regent FAM application will be unavailable beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28th, to apply Microsoft security patches (essentially any application accessed through the www.wctcs.ctc.edu/wctcs<http://www.wctcs.ctc.edu/wctcs> website is affected by this downtime).  The downtime is expected to last approximately two hours.  This list will be notified when the work is completed.

Emergency network maintenance this evening

SUMMARY:

 

 K20 will perform emergency hardware maintenance on a Seattle customer attached router tonight from 22:30 to 23:00. This is in an attempt to address performance issues reported by several customers attached to this router.

E-mail server update

The e-mail server SCCMAIL1 has restarted and is currently working.  Indications are that there is a hardware problem.  The server will be shutdown at 5:00 PM today in order to run system diagnostics.  The system will be unavailable for at least 1 hour this evening.

E-mail Server Rebooted
The email server SCCMAIL1 rebooted this afternoon and may have suffered from a hardware failure.  TSS staff are evaluating the situation.
E-mail outage Saturday morning
The server SCCMAIL2 hung at 5:30 AM this morning.  The server was restarted at 1:15 PM and is now processing backlogged messages from the queues.
RIZZO status update
The RAID array on RIZZO has finished rebuilding.  The system appears to be operating normally now.
Update on SBCTC-IT firewall issues

Submitted by SBCTC-IT as of 4:00 PM, 2/20/09:

We are up at this second. We have 3 firewalls on site and are working to get one up standalone and stable enough to finish today and have the web applications available for you this weekend. We will continue working with Cisco until we have our redundant firewalls up and working correctly.

 

We do understand what terrible timing this is for all of you in registration or ready to begin registration, and we are doing all we can to have the network stable quickly.

Continuing connectivity issues for SBCTC-IT

We are continuing to experience problems connecting to SBCTC-IT services and the HP3000.  There was an outage between 12:40 and 1:10 and we are currently seeing sporadic connectivity as they try to resolve their firewall issues.

SBCTC-IT Network outage update

 

The network outage at the SBCTC-IT has been resolved.  The problem was traced to a faulty firewall device which normally should have failed-over to a redundant system.  Unfortunately the backup failed last week and they have not received a replacement.  All SBCTC-IT services should now be available.

File Server Update

The file server RIZZO, which hosts the H:, S: and X: drives, is still processing a RAID rebuild this morning.  It is currently about 65% complete.  Users will experience very slow response times from the server until this process is complete.

One of the disk arrays on RIZZO is rebuilding, causing response times to be very slow.  The server is operational but very busy.  The rebuild process will take many hours to complete.  TSS staff are investigating the cause of the rebuild.

  The file server RIZZO hung and is now being rebooted.
E-mail problems
We are currently experiencing some problems with the e-mail server SCCMAIL2.  TSS staff are working on it now.

Email services on SCCMail3 were restored at 1pm.
Mail on SCCMail3 unavailable
Email from SCCMail3 is currently unavailable.  TSS is aware of the problem and working to restore service.
