K-20 needs to update the Operating System on the K-20 routers that are located on each CTC campus as well as CIS and the SBCTC. This is necessary because the current version is susceptible to a denial of service attack. This work will occur Sunday, March 9. Each site will probably be down for less than 15 minutes. The CIS’s K-20 router will be upgraded first, as a result colleges may potentially experience two 15 minutes outages depending on if they are accessing resources located at CIS. The first outage would be when CIS’s K-20 router is upgraded and a second when their college’s K-20 router is upgraded.
During the time when the K-20 router located on your campus is being upgraded, you will have access only to resources located on your campus.
When the CIS’s K-20 edge router is being upgraded, colleges will lose access to the following resources located at CIS:
Web Admissions
WAOL
ORCA Library systems
Two of the three CIS maintained DNS servers (134.39.2.118 and 134.39.2.120) NOTE: 168.156.2.17 WILL be available
Web Transaction Server (WTS) sites hosted at CIS
Personal or organizational sites and/or email hosted on ctc.edu or aurora.ctc.edu
Listservs
CIS website (www.cis.ctc.edu<http://www.cis.ctc.edu>)
Web access to Remedy
HP 3000s located at CIS
Pre-production access to re-hosted applications
K-20 has asked for a 4 hour window in case they run into unexpected problems, but hope to done in less than 2 hours. The current outage schedule is:
Start: 3/9/08 – 09:00 AM
End: 3/9/08 – 01:00 PM
