Payphone removal
Verizon has been evaluating the performance of all its public telephones in an effort to identify those stations that do not generate enough revenue to offset the cost for providing service. Shoreline has 8 public telephones on campus and unfortunately 5 have been targeted for removal.  These 5 public phones are generating less than $15.00 a month and are scheduled to be removed in the next 6 weeks.

Library Web Site
A number of web applications went down last night as a result of some updates that were applied to the web server.  The sites impacted include tsstoday (this blog), scheduleplanner and the library web sites.  All are now back up except for the library.  Work is continuing to restore the library site and it is expected to be operational soon.
Temporary loss of network connectivity in parts of the FOSS
Every year at about this time there is a rash of power outages in the Admissions/Registration area of the FOSS building.  The area impacted includes the data closet which provides network connectivity to all three floors on the east side of the building.  The cause is always the same, cold feet.  As the temperature drops in the fall months, personal space heaters begin to appear under desks in the FOSS building.  The additional load inevitably trips the circuit breaker.
Web Server Restarted
Campus websites experienced two outages Thursday, October 3 at 4:00 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. for about 10 minutes each time. Issues in the functioning of the server required restarts at those two times. The issue has been resolved and is not expected to occur again.
