DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME CHANGE
PREPARING FOR DST (DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME) CHANGES:
In August 2005, the United States Congress passed the Energy Policy
Act, which changes the start and end of DST as observed in the
United States. As a result, DST will start three weeks earlier on
March 11, 2007, and end one week later on November 4, 2007 -
resulting in a new DST period that is four weeks longer than
previously observed. Calendar items created before updating
the DST
setting on your computer will display one hour later than originally
scheduled within the extended DST period (4 weeks). Calendar items created
after updating DST setting on your computer should be fine.
TSS has
already updated the
DST settings on all computers running Windows. However,
calendar items within the extended DST
period were not automatically updated. Individual calendar owners are
the only ones who can validate that calendars are correct or not. To
minimize confusion during the DST shift, follow these simple steps:
|
|
INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR SHORELINE OFFICE COMPUTER: |
| 1. |
Open your calendar and check all meetings
scheduled between March 11, 2007 and March 31, 2007, and between
October 28, 2007 and November 3, 2007. |
| 2. |
You have to reschedule single calendar
items if the meeting time is not correct. |
| 3. |
If they are recurring appointments,
you will have to delete them and recreate them if the meeting time
is not correct. They will then adjust according to the new DST
settings. |
| 4. |
When organizing a meeting invitation
during the extended DST period (4 weeks), type the correct meeting
time in the subject line or body of the message -
This is
recommended because your guest's computer may not be updated with
new DST setting. |
| 5. |
If your department has check-out
laptop computers contact TSS (Ext.5872). Manual DST adjustment on
those laptops may be required. |
