The following four steps should be completed before a
student meets with an advisor.

Apply for admission or call

- It is important that you take the
placement test (COMPASS).
- If you have attended other schools,
make sure that your official transcripts
are sent to the Admissions Office.
- Schedule and attend an orientation
and registration appointment session.

At the New Student Orientation, you will receive
information about procedures and policies.
Meet with a faculty advisor from your area of
interest to:
- Discuss your plans.
- Review your course placement
recommendations (from COMPASS or ASSET
test).
- Select and schedule courses for the
first quarter.
- Identify your permanent advisor.
- Register and pay tuition and fees.
Once you are enrolled, you will be expected to meet
with your assigned advisor each quarter to discuss your
progress and to plan your schedule of classes for the
next quarter.
If you are returning to college after a six months or
more, you are considered a returning student. Contact
your assigned advisor as soon as possible. Bring
an unofficial copy of your transcripts to the
appointment as well as your most recent ASSET or COMPASS
test results.
You will need to contact your assigned advisor either
by telephone, email to set up an advising appointment
Plan to meet with your advisor as soon as the next
quarter's class schedule booklets are available in print
or online.
