Periodical Essay Assignment

For this essay you will be arguing a clear conclusion/viewpoint based on clear, concrete research (be sure to refer to Chapters 13 through 18 from the Bedford Researcher for help). The argument you develop should rely primarily on periodical sources known as "periodical." What is a periodical? A periodical is anything that is published on a regular basis: daily newspapers, weekly news magazines, a monthly journals, etc. Some periodicals are published in ways that make them more scholarly. Periodicals that are "scholarly", "refereed", or "peer-reviewed" all have articles that are reviewed by experts in the subject. For other types of periodicals, the articles may be reviewed by a professional editor who is not an expert in the subject. The advantage of a periodical is it is often very timely. It has the latest information on a topic. The disadvantage is that it may lack deep consideration of the topic, and it may make more mistakes in the rush to get the publication out. For this assignment please use at least two periodicals, but remember that is a minimum; you may also use other types of sources for this assignment.

Requirements:

• Minimum use of two periodical articles (you may use more than two sources and other sources may be of any type)
• Unique title that captures essence of the essay
• Follow Guidelines for Modern Language Association (MLA) for essay format
• Cite sources using MLA citation style
• Four to six pages double-spaced
• Fill out Essay Evaluation completely (including grade earned and precise, detailed reasons for grade)
• Staple all pages together and turn in on due date
