An introduction to basic laboratory practices with emphasis on weighing, measuring volumes, sample preparations solution concentration, and error analysis.
Prerequisite: Chem 101 with grade of 2.0 or better, Math 099 or permission. Mandatory decimal grading
Electrical, Optical and Chromatographic Methods
An introduction to basic instrumental analysis. Use of optical instruments, including IR, UV, visible and emission spectrophotometer. Study of all chromatographic techniques and use of latest instrumentation. Use of electronic measuring instrumentation and devices. Prerequisite: Chem 190 or permission. Mandatory decimal grading.
Electrical, Optical and Chromatographic Methods
Continuation of ChemT 191. Prerequisite: ChemT 191 or permission. Mandatory decimal grading.
Chemistry
General-Inorganic Chemistry
The first of three quarters of beginning college chemistry designed for science and engineering majors. To be taken concurrently with Chem 141. Prerequisite: Recent high school chemistry or Chem 101, with grade of 2.0 or better and Math 110 (which may be taken concurrently). Student option grading.
General-Inorganic Chemistry (Lecture-Lab)
Lecture period is especially designed to explain the lab exercise to be performed. Due to dangers involved in chemical experimentation, attendance is mandatory. Lab exercises are designed to reinforce and enhance information being discussed in Chem 140. Prerequisite: Concurrent enrollment in Chem 140. Cannot be taken separately from Chem 140 unless student has already passed Chem 140. Student optiongrading.
General-Inorganic Chemistry
The second of three quarters of beginning college chemistry designed for engineering and science majors. To be taken concurrent with Chem 151. Prerequisite:
Chem 140, Chem 141 with grade of 2.0 or better and Math 110. Student option grading.
General-Inorganic Chemistry (Lecture-Lab)
Lecture period is especially designed to explain lab exercise to be performed. Due to dangers involved in chemical experimentation, attendance is mandatory. Lab exercises are designed to reinforce and enhance information being discussed in Chem 150. Prerequisite: Concurrent enrollment in Chem 150. Cannot be taken separate from Chem 150 unless student has already passed Chem 150. Student option grading.
General Inorganic Chemistry
The third of three quarters of beginning college chemistry designed for science and engineering majors to be taken concurrent with Chem 161 or with instructor permission. Prerequisite: Chem 150 and Chem 151. Student option grading.
General-Inorganic Chemistry
Qualitative and quantitative analysis in both inorganic and organic chemistry. Prerequisite: concurrent enrollment in Chem 160. Cannot be taken separately from Chem 160 unless student has already passed Chem 160. Student option grading.
