In February 2006 Shoreline Community College was selected as Washington State's National Training Center for Alternative Fuels and Advanced Technology Vehicles through the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC), a 27-college consortium of institutions offering standardized training in alternative fuels for the general public as well as certifications for automotive technicians servicing advanced technology vehicles. Training for both audiences is crucial in order to move toward the wider adoption of the following cleaner, more secure energy sources and transportation technologies.
