The Pacific Northwest is leading the way in adopting cleaner technology vehicles. For example, in 2005 Washington State was third in the nation for the most new hybrids per capita, while Seattle ranked fifth in U.S. cities with the highest number of new hybrids per capita (Source: R.L. Polk & Company).
A growing number of consumers want current information about their advanced technology vehicle choices and the number of certified technicians qualified to repair and maintain these new vehicles must grow, too.
Through its National Training Center for Alternative Fuels and Advanced Technology Vehicles, Shoreline Community College has access to curriculum through the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium ranging from consumer-based overviews of clean energy vehicles powered by biodiesel, ethanol, natural gas, hydrogen, and hybrid gasoline-electric systems, to certification in advanced automotive technology and other courses that may be tailored and offered onsite to meet various clients' needs.
