Sophomore point guard, Avery Scharer, from
Garfield High School, was named the Shoreline Community College Men's
Basketball Player of the Week for his efforts in two games this past week. The
Dolphins lost two tough game this week, to Peninsula College at home 108-100
and then to a determined Bellevue College team on Wednesday, 116 to 85.
Scharer, playing on a bad ankle, scored 27 points,
had 20 rebounds, 17 assists and 7 steals in the two games. Scharer leads the
NWAACC in assists with a 9.89 average and is 20th in scoring in the league,
with a 16.30 average.
SCC is 16-11 on the season, 10-6 in the NWAACC
Northern Region. SCC is waiting on the results of tonight's North Seattle CC
and Whatcom CC game. If North Seattle wins, then SCC and North Seattle will
play on Monday night in the SCC Gym in a "Play-In" game to go to the
NWAACC Men's Basketball Championship. If North Seattle Loses, then SCC advances
to the NWAACC Championship as the 4th seed from the region.
