* SCC Men's Squad Ends Season With a Loss

The Shoreline CC Men’s Basketball Team suffered a final game loss to alfiemiller.jpgPeninsula, dropping a 80-67 game to playoff bound Peninsula. The Dolphins showed fatigued from an overtime loss to Everett on Saturday night, as the Pirates gained the upper hand early and SCC never threatened with a run during the game. PC was up  40-31 at half and maintained the lead during the second half.

 

SCC was led by Alfie Miller with 21 points and Sean Jones with 13.

 

SCC finished the season 13-13 overall, and fifth in the Northern Region (6-10) after winning the region last season.

 

SCC lost three sophomores, Alfred Miller-Soukasen, Sean Jones and Joe Holifield, all core members of the 2011 Region Championship team.

* SCC Men’s Basketball Defeats Edmonds 85-80

The Shoreline Community College men’s basketball defeated rival Edmonds CC on Monday night in the SCC gym, 85-80. The Dolphins broke a 3 game losing streak themselves and got revenge for an overtime loss at Edmonds earlier in the season.

 

Sean Jones and Alfie Miller scored 19 each for the Dolphins, while Blayne Clanton and Joe Bodman also added 12 each. Dontae Davis pulled down 11 rebounds for SCC as the SCC squad dominated the alfie.jpgboards, 54 to 38 in rebounds.

 

Edmonds had a 45-41 lead at half-time, but Shoreline took over in the final 10 ten minutes, leading by 6-8 points much of the second half. Edmonds cut it to 2 at 80-78, but SCC hit its free throws to win the game.

 

Shoreline is 13-11 on the year, 6-8 in the region while Edmonds falls to 5-17 overall and 3-11 in the league. SCC will take on Peninsula College on Wednesday night in the SCC Gym, in the last home game of the year. Game time is 7:30 pm and it is sophomore night and the athletic homecoming as well.

* Dolphin Basketball Team Defeated By Skagit Valley

A cold shooting SCC Men’s Basketball Team could not overcome Skagit Valley College on Saturday afternoon in the SCC Gym. SCC led 27-22 at half, but was out scored in the second half by SVC 40 to 29 as the Cardinals pulled away in the final minutes, shooting 45% in the final 20 minutes while SCC could only muster 29%.

 

Alfie Miller led SCC with 24 points, with all 8 coming from 3 point range (8 for 13 on the night). Sean Jones with 11 points was the only other Dolphin in double figures.  Joe Bodman had 15 rebounds for Shoreline, but was 1-12 from the floor.

SCC is now 12-9 overall, and 5-6 in the NWAACC Northern Region, and falling either 2-3 games behind Whatcom CC (depending on what the Orcas do on Saturday) with only 6 region games left. SCC is the defending Northern Region Champs, but have struggled in the region this season, losing two road games in over time. Skagit Valley is now 12-9 overall as well, but 10-2 in the region and is in at least a tie for first place after this game.

 

SCC travels to North Seattle on Wednesday and then to Whatcom on Saturday next week.
