Technology Moments Winter Quarter

The Shoreline CC Library, Technology and is offering Technology Moments: 30 minute informal talks about technologies from Web 2.0 and beyond. Technology can help you manage the information overload in your teaching and everyday life. We will talk about cutting-edge technologies and services that are getting buzz. Some of these technologies will have longevity and some will fizzle. Decide for yourself! Please join us in the library classroom, room 4214, as staff and faculty from the Library, eLearning, Media and TSS and other Shoreline faculty talk about these cutting-edge, practical technologies. Faculty and staff are all welcome!


1.      Firefox

Internet Explorer (IE) is no longer the browser of choice for viewing your favorite web sites.  Come see how Firefox works and why it’s better.

2.      Podcasting

Learn how to make a streamable recording that you can post to your web site.  Don Christenson and Bob Francis both know how to do it and how to make it work in your courses.

3.      Copyright: Ereserves and Blackboard

 

Learn how to put articles on E-reserve and Blackboard, and learn how to do so in compliance with copyright law.

4.      Camtasia and Jing

 

Screencasting allows you to make tutorials from your computer desktop with sound and images.  Camtasia is a program that will soon be available to you in our media lab.  Jing is a free tool.  Come see how these work and how you might use them.

7.      Music and Theater Databases

We will demonstrate how these databases stream  theater and music to your desktop.  Come see what they are about and how to make them work for your classes.
