The Library is here to help faculty and students succeed in their academic endeavors. The library's
faculty and staff are ready and willing to support faculty in other divisions through the provision of a
variety of services. Check out the information below. If you need help that doesn't fall into one of
these categories, that doesn't mean we can't assist you. Call or drop an email to your
division liaison
and we'll do our best to help!
Information Literacy Education Assistance
SCC's Librarians possess a wealth of knowledge regarding instruction in the area of Information Literacy.
We've put together some guidelines
than can help faculty in other divisions to inject Information Literacy skills into their assignments.
You can also contact your division liaison
to discuss how you can have your assignments improve your students' abilities to find, evaluate, and use
information resources.
Library Orientations and Information Literacy Sessions
Bring your students on by the library for an orientation!
Our librarians love to teach students where to look for information and how to evaluate information
sources. We can tailor the presentation to focus on specific issues or resources (e.g. research databases,
reputably web-based sources, books, etc) that would be useful for your students. Fill out an
online request
for an orientation or contact your division liaison
to set one up.
Course Reserve Guidelines for Faculty
The library can help you to make sure students have access to the information resources necessary
for the successful completion of your class assignments through our
Course Reserve
program. Read more about how you can get that vital information in the hands of your students.
Library Materials Request
Want to see your favorite book, DVD, or CD added to the library's collection? Fill out our
materials
request form and we'll do our best to oblige. Please note that the library has very limited
funds for materials purchases, but we will prioritize all requests with an eye on providing the best possible
service to the SCC community.
Media Equipment Delivery and Check-out
The Library's Media Department is here to assist you with your
media equipment
needs. Whether you need a laptop computer for a conference, a TV and DVD player for your classroom, or even
a film strip projector (!), we can probably help.
