Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service that obtains materials not available in the Shoreline Community College
Library/Media Center collection. Books are borrowed from other libraries and photocopies of magazine articles
and non-circulating materials are acquired.
Interlibrary Loan service is offered to all students and employees of the college to support academic studies
or work for the college. If you are not a student or a college employee, you might consider taking the
request to your public library, such as the Seattle Public Library or King
County Library.
A patron may request five items per quarter at no charge. After five, the patron will be responsible for covering any
charges associated with the acquisition of each item. Fees vary, depending on the lending institution. Typical
charges range from $5-$10 per item. Textbooks and media items (e.g.
videos, audio CDs, etc) are not eligible for ILL.
A patron should allow two to three weeks for obtaining requested material. The material frequently arrives more quickly,
but the patron should not depend on having it sooner. If time is a factor the student should consider going to another
community college library to pick up the material him/herself. A current SCC ID card should be
taken to that library. You can locate Washington community colleges here,
and you can check to see if nearby libraries have the materials you need using
WorldCat.
To generate an ILL request, please fill out the form below and we will get back to you within two business days. Fields
in red are required.

Warning concerning copyright restrictions
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies
or other reproductions of copyrighted material.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a
photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction
is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes
a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user
may be liable for copyright infringement.
This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment
of the order would involve violation of Copyright Law.
