Symposiums

Global Affairs Center Symposiums are a series of speakers, panels, and other events that highlight a particular theme.  Typically, they are ongoing, stretching over multiple years.  Some of the themes that have been the focus of past events include:

International power and influence are no longer concentrated in one, two or even a handful of nations and their ideas about modernity, democracy, and security.  Today it seems that the worldviews of people and governments in other places are increasingly important for understanding global affairs.

What role do individuals and non-government organizations (NGOs) play in the delivery of humanitarian relief and development assistance overseas?  How are their efforts coordinated with those of national governments and international organizations?   Learn, be inspired, and get involved.

This series explores issues related to the modification of biological processes for medical, agricultural, industrial and other purposes.  We use biotechnology to make medicines and vaccines to fight diseases, to grow more food, and to find alternatives to fossil-based fuels.

Lectures, discussions, and performances about how film, music, literature, and visual art aid in understanding and promoting (or resisting) social and political change around the world.

All events are open to the public and FREE.
