Former SCC Student Body President Shaun Scott highlighted in UW diversity pub
The UW's spring edition of Viewpoints, the Face of Diversity, featured former SCC Student Body President, Shaun Scott. Scott, 22, a history major at the UW, has shot five short documentaries on race relations and local history. Three of his social issues films were included in the UW's Seattle Civil Rights and Labor History Project. Scott pursues filmmaking as a hobby.

His 2004 film, "Body and Soul" is a comparative analysis of Jews and blacks. His latest film, "The End of Old Days," takes a look at the last 100 years of African American community building and civil rights activism in Seattle. He generally focuses his work on local authors and professors which provides his work with a local sentiment.

The SCC Film Club proudly presents The SCC Film and Video Festival. Please Join us as we screen some of today’s up and coming filmmakers projects.

Film Club History

The Shoreline Community College Film Club got its charter the Winter of 2002. Its goal is to be a forum for all interested students who wish to explore the many and varied aspects of the cinema. The club is active in supporting its members in their creative endeavors, and in providing the opportunity for networking and making connections with film industry professionals.

The Film Club is a great place to get information on jobs in the industry, what jobs are out there and how to get them. To help mitigate this goal, they plan to explore different avenues of filmmaking, from screenwriting to lighting. They hold discussions on film making techniques and also provide some hands-on learning. Through out the year, workshops and guest speakers are in the line-up. Production of student films is also on their list.

A highlight of the club will be its Annual Film Festival that spotlights the local filmmakers. This is a good time to catch some super flicks and catch up on your socializing. Several times a year, the club also gathers to have fun, to screen films and share a potluck meal. The club is free, and all students are welcome.
