Adding or Dropping a Class

Refund Schedule Web registration is available through the first week of the quarter. It is the student's responsibility to confirm any schedule changes by adding or dropping classes with the Registration Office. The advisor's signature is required if the student wishes to take more than 23 credits in one quarter.

 

1st through 5th day of quarter (Summer Quarter 1st - 3rd day):

Schedule changes can be made online or in person in Enrollment Services.  No signatures are required unless the class is full and/or waitlisted, special permission, or the student does not meet the required prerequisites.

 

6th through the 10th day of quarter (Summer Quarter 4th - 6th day): 

Adds are made using the schedule change form and require the signature of the instructor.

 

Withdrawal does not require instructor permission from regular quarter classes. During this period students withdrawing from distance learning classes may withdraw by sending an emailed request to be withdrawn with their name, student identification number, the name and item number of the class to regdl@shoreline.edu  Emailed requests will be processed for distance learning classes only.

 

During this period students adding or withdrawing from an online classes may receive approval via email from their instructor in lieu of a signature. Approval response from the instructor should be forwarded to regdl@shoreline.edu   with the student's name, student identification number, the name and item number of the class  Emailed requests will be processed for distance learning classes only.

 

11th through 20th day of quarter (Summer Quarter 7th day -end of 3rd week):

Adds are made using a Schedule Change Form and require the signature of both the instructor and the division dean.

 

Students adding an online classes may receive approval via email from their instructor and the division dean in lieu of a signature. Approval response from the instructor and dean should be forwarded to regdl@shoreline.edu  with the student's name, student identification number, the name and item number of the class  Emailed requests will be processed for distance learning classes only.

 

After the end of the fourth week (Summer Quarter - end of the 3rd week) of the quarter it is not possible to add classes.

 

During this period a $15.00 fee will be assessed for each in person or online transaction.

 

11th day through first day of week seven of quarter (or Summer equivalent):

Withdrawal requires the signature of the instructor only and a W grade will be assigned for all dropped classes.

During this period students in distance learning/online classes may email their instructor requesting permission to withdraw from class. Email addresses for Shoreline faculty are generally the first letter of the first name and the first seven letters of the last name. The emailed reply from the instructor may then be forwarded to regdl@shoreline.edu, with the student's name, student identification number, the name and item number of the class and a request to be withdrawn. Emailed requests will be processed for distance learning classes only.

After the end of the fourth week (Summer Quarter - end of the 3rd week) of the quarter it is not possible to add classes.

 

Withdrawal with a grade of "W" is possible with instructor signature or emailed approval through the first day of the seventh week (Summer Quarter 21st day of instruction).

 

 

From the second day of the seventh week, the student should contact the instructor directly to discuss late withdrawal grading options of "Z" (hardship withdrawal) or "V"  (unofficial withdrawal). No "W" grades will be issued after the first day of the seventh week (Summer Quarter 22nd day of instruction).

 

Anyone who fails to follow withdrawal procedures and officially withdraw from classes will receive a grade of "V" (unofficial withdrawal).
