An individual reportedly fled from the public eye after damaging one of SCC’s vending machines in the Student Lounge.
Eyewitnesses stated that a tall, Caucasian male with short hair was seen depositing money into the vending machine and attempting to purchase a snack before the incident.
However, it was not properly dispensed and the individual was unable to retrieve
his snack.

A Campus Security Officer interviews an eyewitness at the Student Lounge. Over 30 students were present when the vending machine was damaged.

Out of evident frustration, as onlookers claimed, the individual started to pound on the tempered glass barrier of the vending machine.
Ferdy Kwee noted that after
several successive blows to the structure, the individual in question
created a small crack in the glass, although he was unaware of the result of his actions at the time.

Who hasn't wanted to at one time or other?

“He seemed so desperate for the snack,” remarked Kwee, who later provided a first-hand account
of the incident. While sitting at a table just beside the vending machine, he and his colleagues witnessed the entire event. “He used his butt to bang the vending machine glass a couple of times,” said Kwee.
Billy, a student at SCC who did not wish to use his full name, noted
that the suspect exerted much more force on the vending machine.
He recalls that instead of using his rear end, the individual in question used his entire back to run into the vending machine.
Other students remembered that after the individual attempted to retrieve his purchase through such physical force, he managed

to break the vending machine’s glass barrier and fell into the contents
of the vending machine.
Kwee mentioned that at that point, the suspect had an “oh my gosh” look on his face. Then after realizing the damage that he had done, the individual covered his face with the hood of his sweatshirt
and dashed out of the nearest
exit in the Student Lounge.
“I’m baffled [by the event],” says Billy. “Everyone in the student
lounge was laughing.”
Although the public demise of this individual was rather evident and seemed humorous (given the nature in which the individual attempted to retrieve his purchase
and reportedly failed at accomplishing), it is important to acknowledge that regardless of the circumstances, a crime was committed. School property was damaged and at the time, the perpetrator refused to be held accountable for his actions and eluded law enforcement officers that were searching for him.
