As a result of late-night classes and on-campus jobs creating significant schedule gaps, two students have joined forces this year to form the Gaming Club.

Kerri Karr-May and Jonah McIntosh have placed posters around the school to encourage other students to participate in

their currently unofficial club. They aim to “build a community of people, so other people can meet new people, and play games they haven’t played in years,” said Karr-May. So far, they have acquired four signatures of potential members out of the necessary ten towards making their club official, and after two failed attempts, are still searching for a club advisor.

Once the club is official, Karr-May and McIntosh plan to buy some new board games, including “Apples to Apples” and a lesser- known game called “Puerto Rico,” in which participants set up colonies and attempt to grow and sell more tobacco than their opponents.

In their two club meetings so far, the clubs few members have played “Illuminati,” a card game involving the attempts of a secret society to rule the world. Karr-May and McIntosh have enjoyed learning new board games since they were young, and encourage other people to do the same now, while revisiting forgotten classics, (like “Illuminati”) at the same time.

“It’d be cool to push two or three tables together and have a bunch of people play,” said Karr-May of his dreams for the clubs future. Both Karr-May and McIntosh want the club to be open to anyone who wants to drop by with a board game and automatically have a group of positive and willing opponents.

The Gaming Club meets from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, but plans to create a daytime meeting once their club has been deemed official and has grown.
