This year is looking up for the men’s basketball team. Without any hesitation, first year Coach Menday said, “The team has good chemistry and works well together.”

There are players from last year, all with potential. Menday has singled out Maurice Reed, Jason Goodwin, and Delvaughn Tinned right away. Maurice was All Conference 2nd Team with Jason and Delvaughn receiving honorable mentions as well. There are a total of 7 sophomores this year, “All 7 of the players are shaping up and have potential to go to the next level,” said Menday.

Menday has high hopes for this year. According to Menday, the team has more depth this year than last year. He also said that the players are responding well to the new system. With this in mind, he said the teams to beat are Bellevue and Peninsula because they tied for the championship last year. Also, he mentioned that Edmonds and Skagit are expected to make it into the playoffs this season.

Off the court Menday expects that academics come first for his players. All of the players are doing well in there classes this quarter which makes the coach very happy with there overall performance. As any student athlete knows, this is hard to do.

On the court Menday expects them to be aggressive on there man-to-man defense with zone trapping. He wants them to play fast offense with lots of motion. As he said earlier, “the team is responding well to the new system.” With all of this in mind, the men’s basketball team is going to be pretty good this year.

Shoreline Community College can expect some high energy basketball. So come out to the games, eat some popcorn, and support the home team.
