In a season that was a transition year for the SCC tennis program, the Dolphins head to the Conference Tournament with a shot a bringing home a singles title.

Although the Men’s and Women’s team finished in last place in the North Division, mainly due to the fact that they did not have a full team for the majority of the year, they still automatically send their team to the state playoffs.

James Robinson, the No. 1 men’s singles player and AJ West No. 2 singles player have a legidimate shot at making some noise in the NWAACC Conference Tournament in Spokane, which begins Friday May 20th and concludes Sunday the 22nd.

“James Robinson can beat anyone,” Athletic Director Ken Burrus said.

Robinson finished the regualr season going 7-3 against the No. 1 players in the very difficult Northern Division. “He should be a top four seed in his bracket,” Head Coach Eric Moujtahid-Webster said, “He has as good a chance of taking it all as anyone.”

West also has a shot a doing very well in the No. 2 singles bracket. “He could do some damage,” Moujtahid Webster said. “He’s as tough as anybody in the No.2 singles division.

Robinson and West will also team together in the No.1 doubles bracket where they have the potential to go all the way.

“For a team of mostly all walk-ons they did not do bad at all,” Moujtahid Webster said. “Now we are playing are best. If the season started today we’d be competing for a top three spot.”
