SPANISH/ENGLISH - BILINGUAL INTERPRETER WANTED

Small optical office seeking a Spanish/English interpreter to help field phone calls and translate exam information from English to Spanish. Only required qualifications are fluency in English and Spanish, customer service skills, and able to answer phones. Up to 8 hours per day, 1 to 4 days per week (Tuesday thru Friday). $7.50 to start, DOE.

RECEPTIONIST - FRIDAYS ONLY

Downtown Seattle. Answer all incoming calls, sort mail, greet clients & visitors, some light word processing, prepare coffee & water for conference rooms. Fridays only, 8:30am to 5:30pm. $10/hour.

YARD WORK - PRUNING

Edmonds. Roses and shrub pruning needed. Monday, Tuesday or Saturday afternoon. Job will take up to 8 hours. Must have some experience, know how to prune roses/shrubs. Will pay $10-12.50 per hour.

JOB SITE MANAGER

10 positions available. Position will work 40+ hours per week, Mon - Sat, 9am to 5pm. Must have leadership skills, motivational skills, be responsible, painting experience preferred but not required, must be 18 or over, training provided. Duties will include painting, customer service, managing a 3-4 person crew, clean up, climbing ladders, and some paperwork.

PAINTER

Throughout Greater Seattle. Painters must be responsible, able to follow instructions, be open minded, and not afraid of heights. Prefer some painting experience but not required. Duties will include painting, climbing ladders and clean-up. Over 30 positions open for up to 40 hours per week, 9am-5pm, Mon-Sat.

WORK-BASED LEARNING INTERNSHIPS

Work-based Learning is an umbrella term for a variety of educational experiences such as job shadowing and internships. Build skills, create contacts, develop references, gain confidence, and clarify your career goals and occupational skills.

This program is designed to assist people who are currently unemployed and need to develop new skills or gain additional training before they can effectively return to work. Through this program, dislocated workers can get help in moving from unemployment into college courses.

The Parent-Child Center offers students, staff, state employees and community members high-quality child care. This nationally accredited program provides full- and part-time care for children age 3 months through kindergarten. The Center is open from 7a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

In this program high school juniors and seniors take college classes tuition-free while completing high school. The program is designed for students who are ready for college-level work and want classes that apply toward a high school diploma as well as a college degree.

High schools, community and technical colleges, and businesses worked together through the Northeast Tech Prep Consortium and a local council to establish this dynamic program. The program helps students prepare for success in today’s technologically advanced workplace. These students receive career guidance, planning tools and an academic focus to make the most of their high school curriculum.

This program was created to help improve employment opportunities for 16- to 21-year-olds who lack a high school diploma. Through professional/technical and pre-employment classes, students receive job training, develop life skills and learn effective job search and interviewing strategies. CEO pays for tuition, books and supplies.

This program offers classes for students who are not yet ready for college level studies. Students can refresh their basic language and math skills and prepare to take the GED or the ASSET college entrance exam. The classes are free to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or immigrants over the age of 16.

English as a Second language (ESL)

The ESL program provides courses for students who do not speak English as their first language. It includes instruction in reading, writing, speaking and listening. Levels 1-5 are free for U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or immigrants. Levels 6-8 are especially designed to prepare students to succeed in college level classes.
