JOB DESCRIPTION FOR THE EBBTIDE STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER The Staff Photographer should have design, art or photography courses or equivalent skills. He/she assists the Editor-in-Chief in assigning and carrying out assignments in news photography. Makes suggestions about necessary purchases. May use own camera or check out the Ebbtide's digital cameras or the SCC Media Center's digital cameras. Reimbursement for 35mm film developing is not part of the Ebbtide's regular budget. The photographer takes and assigns photos and ensures their delivery to the editor-in-chief by deadline; coordinates photo size, selection, cropping and placement with editors; clearly and accurately labels disks with appropriate names, locations, dates, etc. The photographer maintains a file of any and all photographs for the paper and checks the quality and accuracy of half tones coming from the printer. The photo editor must also maintain the photo files to keep them up-to-date and useful to the staff. © 2003 Shoreline Community College™
