JOB DESCRIPTION FOR THE EBBTIDE WEB MASTER
The Web Master is responsible for the cyberspace version of The Ebbtide. He/she must make sure that the web version is launched in a timely fashion. The Web master must work with the other staff--particularly the editor--to ensure that the main stories are launched on the Web; that the graphics which are chosen are appropriate; and that the Web site stays viable and interactive. He/she must also maintain e-mail communications for those who write to the Web Master through the site.
Specific Duties:
- Maintain the Web site. Create template changes as needed.
- Transfer text and graphics files from the main computer to be used in the Web site.
- Answer e-mails related to the newspaper Web site.
- Write on issues of technology, surfing the Web, and other such areas to promote high tech literacy among students.
- Make suggestions for necessary purchases for The Ebbtide office as regards software, high tech equipment, and Web-related needs.
- Assure adherence to all copyright law; corrects mistakes in the site; and observes all professionalism that applies to the publication of the print version of the newspaper.
