JOB DESCRIPTION FOR THE EBBTIDE ADVERTISING MANAGER
The business manager will design and follow up an advertising campaign developed to raise revenue; maintains all books and records dealing with the sale and placement of ads; and designs (with staff help) ads for those businesses and individuals who request them.
Specific Duties:
- Sends tear sheets to advertisers no later than three days after publications.
- Keeps a weekly ledger of all advertising revenue and space filled with ads in each issue (percent of available space) and a ledger of incoming payments and revenues.
- Solicits advertising from the community and from existing accounts, developing and sending out ad rates and cover letters to potential advertisers as needed.
- Maintains accurate budget books including operations, ad revenue and sales commissions.
- Prepares monthly and year-end business reports to be submitted to the editor and advisor.
- Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings and other mutually agreed-upon meetings with editor.
- Reports to editor any special ads that require special attention such as reduction in size, specific graphics or typing.
- Maintains five regularly-scheduled office hours weekly in The Ebbtide office.
- Purchases The Ebbtide supplies as requested by the editor and advisor.
- Bills advertisers through invoices and pays The Ebbtide bills, in cooperation with the Office of Student Programs and Placement.
