Opera Workshop Performances

Shoreline Community College will continue the annual Opera Workshop Performances in the Campus Theater tonight and tomorrow night at 7:30 PM. The Workshop will be featuring operatic scenes with piano accompaniment and Suor Angelica by Giacomo Puccini, performed with chamber orchestra. $8 for SCC students, $12 for general admission.

War, Peace, Etc.

SCC's Art Gallery presents Kathy Ross's show, "War, Peace, Etc." A Seattle artist well known for her surreal figurative sculptures in clay, bronze, and found objects, Ross presents thought provoking imagery that includes war and peace/light and shadow themes where guns, flowers, doves, and other unexpected objects form the heads of three-inch baby dolls cast in bronze. The show will continue through March 4th in the Administration Building (1000) where the Art Gallery is located. Gallery Hours are Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM.

Drag Queen to Tell All

Mark "MOM" Finley, Seattle's most spectacular drag queen will be on campus Monday, March 3rd at 9:30 AM in the Canteen discussing issues related to being gay, living with HIV/AIDS, and other topics pertaining to being gay, announced Jason Horsfall the Rainbow Club's Co-President.

The Rainbow Club, a club for gays and lesbians on campus, will sponsor the discussion.

Video Series Provides Insight to Global Economics

The Worldly Philosopher's and Dismal Scientists' Society will be sponsoring a PBS documentary series "Commanding Heights: Battle for the World Economy," which discusses the impact of the new global economy. The second and third showings of the video series will be held Tuesday, March 4 and March 11, both at 2:00 PM in room 1102.

Each film can be watched and enjoyed without watching the entire series, but the whole series is recommended.

University of Washington Transfer Thursday

The University of Washington provides information for transfer students each Thursday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Undergraduate Gateway Center at UW. Information will cover transfer admissions, drop-in advising, and information sessions for business, engineering, premed, computer science and many other departments. Digital Art Show Competition

Sponsored by the Visual Communication Technology Club at SCC, this show will be open for public viewing from March 10th - May 1st. Entries need to have been created, modified, or inspired by technology by the artist within the last two years.

Washington Biotechnology Foundation hosts Student Biotechnology Expo at SCC

On Monday, March 24th, approximately 300 high school students will be swarming over the SCC campus from 3-5 p.m. for the 2003 Student Biotech Expo. The campus is invited to attend the expo and the catered reception which follows.

Faculty to perform at the Seattle Art Museum

Duo-pianists Gloria Swisher, professor emerita, and Nancy Matesky, music professor, will perform at SAM on March 6 at Noon. They will perform Romance from Suite No. 2 by Sergei Rachmaninoff and movements from Richard Rodney Bennett's Suite for Two Pianos. Matesky and Swisher will perform the same program today at 10:30 a.m. in Room 818 for Rob Bigley's Music 107 class. The campus is invited to attend.
