at last! a paper a
paper and pen!
but then what to write but then
what to write, then?
a million ideas jangled
up in a ball at least a
million ideas jacked up
backs to the wall.
notes to myself stashed in
boxes and books,
half finished poems and
clever song hooks,
someday receiving, perhaps,
second looks and
seeming like SECRETS! just like evidence-YES!!
just like proof of some crime i have
yet to confess and how
guilty I am could be
anyone's guess...
...like secrets, like keys
to the doors in my soul
that close upon rooms where the wallpaper's peeling where
unfinished business is stacked to the ceiling it's
enough to send anyone's sanity reeling-
close the door! close it quick!
throw the key out with feeling!
i have stumbled on something which leaves me astounded:
THE WORLD IS A SQUARE!
JUST THE EDGES ARE ROUNDED!
