| An Open Letter to the Campus From SCC President Holly Moore | |
| . |
In the wake of the tragic events that stunned our nation, a rallying cry has been sounded, calling for our citizenry to unite in support of each other and to help with the healing process.
One of the tenets of our Strategic Plan states that, "Shoreline Community College will foster and promote a positive, safe and supportive learning and work environment". This strategic direction emerged from the conscience of our campus community. Shoreline Community College fully intends to work to ensure that these goals are fulfilled.
As President of this College, I am asking that all of us work together to ensure the existence of a safe environment for learning and working throughout our campus.
I am imploring our community, staff and students alike, to recognize that the diversity of our population contributes to the richness of our campus community. No one on our campus should or will be made to feel harassed or even uncomfortable because of perceived associations with the recent events.
Any inappropriate acts, physical or verbal, that unfairly target any individual or group on this campus will not be tolerated. I ask that if anyone experiences such actions, they notify my office or Security immediately. You can also contact this year's Student Advocate, Lynn Brown at 546-6996 or by email at lbrown@shore.ctc.edu.
This is a most difficult time for all of us, yet I am confident that we will overcome. In doing so, we will become even stronger as a community and as an academic institution. Thank you all for your assistance. Best wishes for a successful academic year.
