Doug Reid, Director of Instrumental
Music at Shoreline Community College, is well known as an educator,
clinician and performer throughout the Northwest. Under Reid’s
leadership, the Shoreline Community College instrumental music program
has received widespread recognition including invitations to perform at
the Washington Music Educators Convention, the 1998 North American
Saxophone Alliance, the North Texas Invitational Jazz Festival, and
numerous International Association of Jazz Educators Conferences. Mr.
Reid has guest conducted honor groups in California, Washington, Oregon
and Victoria, BC.
A graduate of North Texas State University, Mr. Reid has performed with
a diverse group of prominent entertainers including jazz artists Mel
Torme, Bud Shank, Phil Matteson and the Harry James Band; pop
entertainers such as The Four Tops, Buddy Miles; and blues artist Etta
James. Mr. Reid is an artist/clinician for Boosey and Hawkes and
performs exclusively on Keilwerth saxophones.
