We have a series of three acting courses:
Drama
151, 152, 153 Acting. The approach is gently rigorous.
As teachers of acting,
Tony Doupe' and staff
approach the students with respect. We believe
that collaboration is more important than competition
and that the best acting training focuses on strengths
rather than weaknesses. We will introduce you to a
variety of different techniques and philosophies, so in
your actor's toolbox you'll have both range and depth of
strategies for stage and camera.
Next in the sequence of acting courses is Drama 155:
Acting for Television and Film. This course builds on
the basic acting skills you've gained to teach the
specific techniques of working and auditions for the
camera.
Drama
156, 157: Acting, Writing and Directing for the Camera,
is an introductory course that puts your acting skills
together with camera operators and screenwriters to
write, rehearse and shoot short videos.
Drama
295: Improvisation and Drama 231: Children's Theater
Production will add critical skills to your repertoire.
Drama
221: Career Planning and Auditioning will be invaluable
for your transition from school to career. In this
course students make 5 and 10-year plans, build
networking with businesses, production companies and
theaters, and practice interviewing and auditioning
techniques.
*At any point as you study acting at SCC, you have
the opportunity to put your growing skills to work in
our quarterly stage and film productions by auditioning
for Drama 207, 208, 209 Theatrical Production, and Drama
203: Experimental Theater. Our theater and film
productions are the keystone training of the program.
