Shoreline Community College offers our students an
associate degree. With this degree, you may choose to
transfer to a four-year university to complete your
bachelor's degree, get a wide base of skills and
experience in a professional-technical field, or pursue
general studies. You may also earn a degree completely
online. Learn more about each degree:
Associate in Arts Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA)
This is the general planning guide. The AA-DTA is
part of the Washington State Direct Transfer Agreement
(DTA), which is helpful in admission and course
evaluation at almost all Washington State Schools. This
degree can also be used to prepare and apply at
out-of-state schools. Colleges/universities not part of
the WA State DTA will evaluate your application and
coursework on an individual basis.
Additional AA-DTA guides are available with
information to help you prepare for a specific major.
Associate in Arts (IP) Individualized Academic Plan for
Transfer
This is the general planning guide. It can be used to
develop your own academic plan for any school or major
you are interested in. It is not part of a transfer
agreement. This means that colleges/universities will
evaluate your application and coursework on an
individual basis.
A few AA-IP guides are available with information to
help you prepare for a specific school or major.
Associate in Business Direct Transfer Agreement
This degree shall only be granted to students who
have earned a cumulative grade point average of at least
2.0 Admission to Washington public baccalaureate Schools
of Business is not guaranteed. It is strongly
recommended that students contact the
baccalaureate-granting Business School early in their
Associate in Business DTA (Direct Transfer Agreement) to
be advised of additional requirements (e.g. GPA) and
procedures for admission. Admission for many Business
schools is competitive, and higher grade-point averages
and course grades are often required.
Associate in Sciences (AST), Track I and Associate in
Sciences (AS), Track II These degree options are
designed for students pursuing a degree at
Shoreline Community College in science or
engineering majors. The AS degree allows students to
complete many of the course sequences and major
prerequisites for these majors. There are ten different
AS planning sheets covering most applicable majors.
Associate in Applied Science - Transfer (AAS-T)
Shoreline has agreements with seven colleges and
universities which allow students with specific
professional/technical degrees to earn a Bachelor degree
at those institutions. Please see an advisor in the area
you are interested in to learn more about any of the
AAS-T options.
Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) The AFA degree offers
students multiple opportunities and experience in a
number of art disciplines with an emphasis on the
development of a strong portfolio of artwork. The
AFA degree is a model that highlights transfer
opportunities as an art major to Bachelor of Art and
Bachelor of Fine Art programs, while providing graduates
with a sold foundation for artistic growth and for
employment opportunities with just the associate degree.
It also serves as a degree for students who may already
have a degree in another field or are seeking positions
in galleries, community centers and museums.
Associate of Music -
Shoreline Community
College's Associate of Music degree offers multiple
opportunities for students. Not only is the Associate of
Music degree designed to function as a transfer degree,
but it also serves as a terminal degree for those
students who do not have a four-year degree as an
immediate goal. This degree is ideal for students may
already have a degree in another field or have goals
such as studio teaching or performing.
Admission to competitive four-year music programs is
based on proficiency in music theory, performance, sight
singing and keyboard (piano) skills. The Associate of
Music degree is designed to prepare students for entry
into competitive four-year music programs nationwide, as
well as foster in students a lifelong interest in a wide
range of musical styles. At this time, Shoreline's
Associate of Music degree is positioned to serve as a
model that highlights transfer opportunities for the
serious music student.
