Beginning Italian conversation for those who are planning a trip or simply seeking an introduction to the spoken form of the language as it is used in everyday situations. Text will be announced in class. No class on 5/26.

SPANISH FOR MEDICAL PROVIDERS

Spanish conversation for the typical clinic setting--learn body parts and ailments. We will role play both sides--a medical assistant taking vital signs and health information, and a patient making an appointment with a nutritionist. Learn to interpret medical pamphlets and directions in Spanish.

Travel

EXPLORE ANTARCTICA--NEW

Antarctica has a fascinating human history that spans more than 200 years.  This class looks at the last 100 years including a review of major expeditions up to the present, what it is like to live and work on the continent, and the experience of traveling there as a tourist. All lectures are fully illustrated.  The instructor has traveled to the Antarctic Peninsula as a history lecturer on a cruise ship, and she is an image librarian with degrees in anthropology and art history.

DISCOVER AMAZON TRAVEL

Ever daydream that you were lazing in a hammock on a river boat watching the Amazon go by? Learn the basics of Amazon travel--when to go, where the mosquitoes aren't, when you need a guide and when you don't, how to experience the mystery of the Amazon! The instructor has river-boated the Amazon from Pucallpa, Peru to Belem, Brazil, and bussed much of the Trans-Amazonian highway. He is an economist and an award-winning photographer who speaks Portuguese.
