Music

SHORELINE CONCERT BAND

This concert band, made up of community members and Shoreline Community College students, rehearses each Monday evening including holidays. The band prepares and presents quality concert programs several times a year. The spring concert will be May 20th. Membership is open to qualified instrumentalists on wind and percussion instruments. Call 206-546-4759 for more information. This class is not eligible for mail registration.

CHOIR OF THE SOUND

This choir of over 100 voices rehearses regularly, including holidays, on campus at Shoreline Community College.  Membership is by audition only.  The choir consists of community members from all walks of life and performs three sets of concerts throughout the year.  The class will meet on Memorial Day, 5/26.  Judy Filibeck is director. PRODUCING & MARKETING YOUR 1st MUSIC CD

Are you ready to make your first music CD? This two-part nuts and bolts course will motivate and inspire you, providing everything you need to create a plan of action. Topics include budgeting and fundraising ideas; selecting a studio, producer, musicians and duplication house; creating effective packaging and building a marketing, promotion and distribution pan.  Jeanette Alexander is CEO of Creative Muse Productions and has sold many of her music CDs.

Dance

BALLROOM DANCE I

Both singles and couples are welcome!  Glide across the floor with the greatest of ease after taking this beginning ballroom class. Learn the Foxtrot, Waltz, and Tango.  Leading and following techniques are stressed throughout the course. Anita LaFranchi has been teaching and sharing her love for dance since 1987.

SWING DANCE I

If you want to go out dancin', this is the class you need to take! Dance to Big Band, Swing, Rock n Roll, Country, New Wave, Blues and Jazz.  No dance experience or partner required. Be prepared to have fun!

BALLROOM DANCE II

Add polish to your dancing. This class is the next step to becoming a good ballroom dancer. You will review and learn new steps in the fox trot, waltz and tango.  Both singles and couples are welcome. Prerequisite: Ballroom 1 or equivalent.

SWING DANCE II

Add new moves and interesting variations to what you learned in the beginning course. Become more confident in leading and following.  The more you learn about this most versatile of dance styles, the more fun you will have!

BELLYDANCERCIZE - BEGINNING

Creative and Fun!! Basic bellydance movements, finger cymbals, tummy undulations and conditioning and strengthening exercises are part of the instruction. Health benefits include improvement in posture and flexibility, strengthening and coordination of muscle groups in the trunk, improved self image, spine and arms which help prevent lower back pain. Zaphara is the director of her own Dance troupe, a master instructor and entertainer and currently performs at three ethnic restaurants in the Seattle area. Please wear loose comfortable clothing and bring a mat or towel.

BELLYDANCERCIZE- INTERMEDIATE

Now that you know how fun this exercise can be, continue to build strength and practice your movements with cymbal accompaniment. Add new movements including veil, hip and shoulder shimmies and music interpretation.
