CASAS PRE- AND POST-TESTING PROCEDURE

 

Prospective student turns in application

(Debby) Invites prospective student to take placement test

Students have an oral interview with (Aura). Based on their performance, some students will take CASAS Appraisal 20. Others will take pre-test 27 and 31 once they are registered and attending classes. Everyone will take the ESL placement test which includes a grammar test and a writing sample.

(Debby) Invites new students to register and attend and orientation/registration session

During the first two weeks of the quarter all new registered students who missed the orientation/registration/testing session take the CASAS pre-test outside of class.  The Assessment Assistant administers this test.

Are more than half of the students new to the college?

Instructor administers CASAS reading and listening with help from ESL program office.

(Debby) Schedules reserves rooms, notifies instructors of testing procedure. New students take CASAS pre tests during their class time at another location on a scheduled date. The Assessment Assistant administers test

Instructors receive a memo outlining CASAS post test procedures. Instructors need to administer CASAS reading post-test in class. Instructors receive assistance in administering listening post test.
