Hi, I'm Dr. Betsey Barnett.  I teach Multicultural Studies at Shoreline Community College, in Shoreline, WA, USA.  Multicultural Studies is a discipline which uses the lenses of race, social class, gender, sexual orientation, often religion, and often disabilities as ways of understanding the thoughts, feelings and behavior of others.

Multicultural Studies 105  Introduction to Multicultural Studies:  This course is designed to help you develop an understanding of the cultural and gender differences in American society, to identify personal values and to recognize the implications of interdependence among diverse cultures. Students will develop skills in problem solving, communication strategies, and the taking of multiple perspectives.

Bio not too long, not too fancy, just an introduction.

Vita This is a comprehensive academic resume of my professional training and experience.

Commencement 6.6.99.  I gave this commencement  to the graduating class of 1999 at Shoreline Community College.

Resources:  This is a list of sites that give good information about the topics I cover in my courses, for those who want to explore further.

Soul Catcher:  I returned in Fall 2005 from a two-year leave of absence beginning August 15th, 2003.  My family and I sailed our boat, Soul Catcher, to Mexico and Central America (and back). This link tells you some stories about our voyage.
