Advising & Counseling
Nancy Field's Web Page

I have been part of the counseling faculty in the Advising and Counseling
Center at Shoreline Community College since September 1980. I provide counseling
and academic advising to Shoreline Community College students as well as
individuals who may be interested in attending a community college. Counseling
services include career and personal counseling as well as advising and
educational planning. Personal counseling may include self-assessment;
exploration of your relationships; problem solving and management of your goals
and choices while you pursue your academic goals. Personal counseling is of a
short term nature and available to students enrolled at Shoreline Community
College. Career counseling may assist you in selecting an educational or
occupational goal or to consider a career change. Career counseling may also
include assistance in using the resources available in our Career Information
Center.
I have a Masters of Education degree from the University of Washington's
School of Education awarded June 1980. I am licensed by the State of Washington
as a Mental Health Counselor. My license # is: LH00005305. My counseling
techniques are integrative but are primarily client-centered and interactive or
reflective depending on the situation and client preference. I have pursued
post-graduate training in multicultural counseling.
Counseling sessions are confidential, except in rare and exceptional
situations. Information discussed in counseling sessions is not released to
other people or agencies without your permission in writing. I welcome questions
about my credentials, my experience, my counseling style and issues regarding
confidentiality.
The Advising and Counseling Center hopes you will utilize and benefit from
your interaction with a professional counselor. Student success is our primary
concern.
