Board of Trustees

 

Board MeetingLegal power and responsibility for the operation of Shoreline Community College rests with the board of trustees. The board of trustees establishes and reviews college policies and oversees the general management of funds and properties.

 

The board is composed of five trustees, who are appointed by the governor of Washington State with the consent of the Senate.  The board of trustees acts as a unit. As such, it represents the public interest and functions to ensure the basic fiscal integrity of the college.

 


Members of the Board

Roger Olstad, Board Chair
Appointed: October 2006. Trustee Olstad was a science education professor at the University of Washington from 1964 to 1995, a Boeing Endowed Professor from 1990-1995, worked as a consultant to numerous local, state, national and international groups and is a member of a number of advisory committees.

 

Jerry Smith, Board Vice Chair
Appointed: October 2007. Trustee Smith has worked in the automotive industry for over 30 years, is the owner and President of several automobile dealerships in Northern Washington and has been involved with Shoreline Community College's Automotive Program since its inception in the late 1970s.

 

Phil Barrett

Appointed: March 2010.  Trustee Barrett is the Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for RealNetworks Home Entertainment, holds multiple officer positions on the Barrett Family Foundation, is strong supporter of public schools and volunteers at his children's school.

 

Shoubee Liaw
Appointed: December 2005. Trustee Liaw served as the Professional Development Coordinator for the Seattle Public Schools, a Resource Manager for the DSHS Division of Developmentally Disabled and an Evaluator and Manager for Testing and Research with the Seattle Public Schools..

 

Gidget Terpstra
Appointed: July 2004. Reappointed: October 2008. Trustee Terpstra is the District Homeless Education Liaison and Readiness to Learn Family Advocate with the Shoreline Public Schools, has served as the Director for the Northshore/Shoreline Community Health and Safety Network and is active in many organizations serving North King County.

2010 BOARD OF TRUSTEES REGULAR MEETINGS

(Approved by the Board of Trustees : October 28, 2009 Regular Meeting)

 

The Shoreline Community College Board of Trustees shall hold Regular Meetings at 4:00 PM in the Board Room (#1010M) in the Administration Building (#1000) at Shoreline Community College (16101 Greenwood Avenue North, Shoreline, Washington).  The Board is scheduled to meet on the following dates in calendar year 2010:

2The June 23, 2010 Board meeting will be held in Room 5 at Shoreline Community College's Lake Forest Park location (SCC@LFP), Lake Forest Park Towne Center (17171 Bothell Way NE, Suite A220, Lake Forest Park, Washington).

 

3The November and December 2010 meetings are combined with the meeting scheduled for the first Wednesday in December.
