Developing criteria to assess college progress on the strategic plan

Our last meeting in December saw many members absent as the college tries to deal with the budget crisis. Nevertheless, we began brainstorming ways to create a process of assessment for the college's progress on the strategic plan.

As discussed in the meeting, I'm making this post both as a means to familiarize ourselves with the mechanics of the new blog and to create a centralized collection point for our ideas on the topic of assessment.

For the record, here are the ideas that were shared in the meeting:

SPOL will help us gather some of this information, though we will need to decide how to use the information it collects

Ask for reports from relevant committees on their achievements

Consult with in-house experts on assessment (Tonya Drake, Norma Goldstein, others?)

Examine the bullet points under each strategic direction in the plan and identify relevant people/divisions/areas on campus from whom to solicit input

Please add your comments; by next meeting we should have plenty to sift through and start shaping into a coherent plan.
