Scharer, a sophomore guard from Garfield High School in Seattle, was named the SCC Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Avery scored 17 points with 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals in a win against Everett Community College on Monday and then added 21 points, 4 rebounds, 12 assists and 4 steals in SCC's win on Wednesday against #1 ranked Bellevue College.
Avery is 10th in the NWAACC in scoring, with a 18.18 points per game average and leads the NWAACC in assists per game with a 10.00 average.
Shoreline is 11-8 on the season and 5-3 in the NWAACC Northern Region. The team returns to action on Wednesday in the SCC Gym against Skagit Valley College as teh second half of the region begins. SCC is tied with North Seattle Community College for 4th place in the region. The top four teams in the region go to the NWAACC Basketball Championship in March.
